 Breakfast

We've got several Hobee's in the area and you can't beat them for a decently-priced breakfast (check out the coupon link on the Web site to save even more at select locations). Personally,  I like the one in the Town & Country Village because of plentiful parking. Have a cup of coffee or their signature cinnamon orange tea on the house while you wait in line on the weekends. Their blueberry coffee cake is legendary but see what seasonal fruit coffee cakes they are also offering. For the vegans among you, it's one of the few spots on the Peninsula that has a fair assortment of vegan options. Love me some tofu scramble and the Special Hashbrown plates are a carb-lover's dream. There are lots of under $5 choices like the all-you-can-eat Oatmeal Bar, the Granola Bar with fresh fruit and small Seasonal Fruit Plate. Throw in an extra 95 cents for the BDBIT or Best Darn Breakfast in Town: Two eggs any style, hashbrowns, served with blueberry coffeecake or toast.

Alana's Cafe is a favorite for the vibe. The Redwood City location is in a gorgeous restored Victorian tucked away among pepper and elderberry trees. There are four cozy rooms to choose from and a patio. It's like eating at Grandma's. I love the art cooperative attached to the restaurant, The Gallery, where you can stroll off a few of those post-breakfast calories. Their baked good are delish and Martha's Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes (order them with a side of tangy lingonberries) beat the pants of your standard pancakes anyday.
